How to do IKO high temperature bearings for routine maintenance

   High temperature bearings are important moving parts for automobiles. The high temperature shaft is responsible for reducing the frictional resistance during the operation of the chassis and maintaining the normal driving of the car. If the high temperature bearing fails, it may cause noise, IKO bearing heat, etc., especially the front wheel is more obvious, which may lead to dangerous phenomena such as out of control. Therefore, high temperature bearings must be maintained on schedule.
    1. Inspection of high temperature bearings
    (1) When inspecting the tightness of the IKO bearing, firstly, the axle of the wheel at one end of the wheel of the vehicle is inspected, and the vehicle is safely framed with a vehicle stool, a wooden cover, and the like.
    (2) Turn the number of wheels to be inspected by hand to see if the rotation is stable and there is abnormal noise. If the rotation is not smooth and there is friction, the brake part is not normal; if there is no noise, the rotation is not smooth and it is loose when it is tight, indicating that the bearing part is not normal. The hub should be removed when the above abnormality occurs.
    For small cars, when checking high-temperature bearings, hold the upper and lower sides of the tires with both hands, and pull the tires back and forth with both hands and repeat them many times. If it is normal, there should be no feeling of looseness and blockage; if the swing has a feeling of looseness, the wheel should be removed.
    (3) Inspection of the brakes. Usually when inspecting high temperature bearings, check the wheel brakes. If there is oil on the inside of the tires, it may be caused by oil leakage from the brake cylinder or brake hose. The cause should be checked and eliminated.
    2. Maintenance of high temperature bearings
    Before disassembling the hub, prepare the wheel hub for maintenance, stop the car and set up the axle to ensure the safety of the maintenance work.
    (1) Remove the decorative cover and dust cover of the hub shaft head;
    (2) Remove the tire nut and tire, taking care not to hurt the thread of the tire bolt. If it is a disc brake, remove the brake and use it to remove the lock ring or lock pin.
    (3) Remove the hub with a special tool;
    (4) Scrape the old grease in the bearing, journal and hub cavity, clean the high temperature bearing and journal with a cleaning agent and wipe dry with a cloth. Finally, wipe the inner cavity of the hub with a cloth.
    (5) Check the high temperature bearing and the bearing race, and find that there are cracks, fatigue peeling and loose bearing rollers. IKO bearings should be replaced. If there is a pitting on the bearing race, the bearing should also be replaced.
    (6) Check the matching between the inner diameter of the bearing and the journal. The matching clearance should be no more than 0.10mm. When measuring the journal, it should be measured in the upper and lower parts of the vertical ground (the largest wear part). If the fit clearance exceeds the specified limit of use, the bearing should be replaced to return it to the normal fit clearance. Do not allow burrs and pitting on the journal to narrow the gap.
    (7) After all the parts meet the requirements, apply the grease to the inner bearing and put it in the wheel hub.
    (8) When applying grease to the bearing inner cavity, be careful to squeeze the grease into the IKO bearing until the grease emerges from the other side of the bearing. Apply a thin layer of grease to the hub cavity and the shaft cap to prevent rust. Be careful not to apply too much grease in the hub cavity, otherwise it will affect heat dissipation and braking.
    (9) Put the hub and outer bearing back on the journal, screw the shaft adjusting nut by hand, and then tighten the adjusting nut with the shaft wrench according to the specified torque. After tightening the nut, turn the hub a few turns to see if the bearing is installed. On the other hand, the bearing and the race are properly matched by rotation. At this time, the IKO bearing is properly tight, and the wheel is free to rotate without feeling an axial gap.
    (10) Finally, the components such as the locking piece, the fixing nut, the tire, the dust cover and the decorative cover are sequentially installed.
    (11) After the high-temperature bearing is adjusted, drive a mileage (about 10km), stop the inspection, use it to wipe the temperature of the hub. If it is hot, it is too tight for IKO bearing adjustment. It should be re-adjusted to properly loosen the bearing tightness.

Analysis of the Influence of IKO Non-standard Bearing Lubrication Method on Performance

When the advantages of chrome steel and stainless steel as bearing materials were examined, it was found that they did not only have an anti-rust effect. Chrome steel is the most common non-standard bearing material. It is harder than stainless steel, so it lasts longer. However, at higher temperatures, its performance is not good.
At a high temperature of 120C, it undergoes tremendous deformation and the load is reduced. It can withstand temperatures up to 150C, but an instant 150C or higher will reduce the life of IKO bearings. The heat treatment can subject the bearing to an elevated temperature of 170C.
The purpose of the lubrication of the bearing is to reduce the internal friction and wear of the non-standard bearing, to prevent the sticking, and its lubricating effect is as follows.
(1). Reduce friction and wear.
In the mutual contact portion of the ferrule, the rolling element and the retainer constituting the IKO bearing, metal contact is prevented, and friction and wear are reduced.
(2). Extend fatigue life.
The rolling fatigue life of IKO bearings is prolonged when the rolling contact surface is well lubricated during rotation. Conversely, if the oil viscosity is low and the thickness of the lubricating oil film is not good, it is shortened.
(3). Discharge friction heat, cooling
The circulation oil supply method or the like can be used to discharge heat generated by friction or heat from the outside to cool. Prevent the bearing from overheating and prevent the lubricant from aging itself.
(4). Other
There is also the effect of preventing foreign matter from entering the inside of the bearing or preventing rust and corrosion.
Rolling bearing lubrication can generally be divided into three categories: oil lubrication, grease lubrication and solid lubrication depending on the type of lubricant used.
Among them, oil lubrication has a wider temperature range than other lubrication methods, and is more suitable for bearings working under high speed and high load conditions. At the same time, because of oil lubrication, it also has convenient equipment maintenance and lubricant replacement, and friction pairs in the system such as gears. The advantages of simultaneous lubrication, so far, the use of oil lubrication for non-standard bearings is the most common.
Grease lubrication has the advantages of simple sealing device, low maintenance cost and low grease cost. It is widely used in IKO bearings running at low speed, medium speed and medium temperature. In particular, the advent of anti-wear additives in recent years has improved the lubricating properties of greases and made grease lubrication more widely used.
If oil lubrication and grease are used to achieve the required lubrication conditions for the bearings, or if specific operating conditions are not met, a solid lubricant can be used or the bearing's own lubrication properties can be improved.
The reason for the noise generated by the bearing is more complicated. One is that the inner and outer rings of the bearing are worn on the surface. Due to this wear, the IKO bearing and the housing, the rolling bearing and the shaft are broken, resulting in the axis deviating from the correct position and generating an abnormal sound when the shaft is moving at a high speed. When the non-standard bearing is fatigued, the surface metal peeling off will also increase the radial gap of the bearing to produce abnormal noise.
